The IPS Parent Council is a parent-led, grassroots organization founded by IPS families, for IPS families, working to strengthen public education for the entire IPS community. We bring parents and caregivers together to advocate for equitable, well-funded public schools where every student has the opportunity to thrive. We believe parents are essential partners in public education, and that our collective voice is stronger when we work together. Through connection, education, advocacy, and collaboration with educators and community leaders, we empower families to stay informed, strengthen their advocacy skills, and help shape a high-quality, safe, inclusive, and publicly accountable education system for every IPS student.
The IPS Parent Council promotes social welfare by:
Advocating for equitable funding, resources, and policies that strengthen public education.
Organizing and educating parents and caregivers so they can engage effectively in issues affecting IPS students and schools.
Building partnerships among families, educators, schools, and community organizations.
Engaging in civic and community advocacy, including public comment, Statehouse advocacy, and engagement with IPS leadership and the School Board.
Raising awareness and mobilizing families around issues affecting students, schools, and public education.
Developing parent leadership and civic engagement through education, resources, workshops, and opportunities to participate.
Supporting IPS schools and students through community partnerships, school-based initiatives, and direct support.
Connecting families across IPS to build a stronger, more informed, and engaged public school community.
We are committed to making participation possible for all families. Whenever possible, we provide childcare, transportation assistance, and meeting schedules designed to maximize participation.
